Partner Info – PKO BP

PKO Bank Polski (PKO BP) is Poland's largest bank. As a leader in the Polish financial sector, PKO BP combines decades of banking experience with cutting-edge digital innovation. The bank serves millions of retail and institutional clients across Poland and Central Europe.

PKO BP stands at the forefront of blockchain innovation in the European banking sector. The bank has already pioneered its blockchain-based document management system, positioning itself as a technology leader among traditional financial institutions.

Hackathon Track: Institutional DeFi Horizons - Bridging Traditional Institutions with Solana

While this track features PKO BP as a partner, submissions are not limited to banking applications. Projects can be general DeFi protocols that have potential for institutional adoption. We encourage solutions that bridge traditional finance with decentralized systems, particularly focusing on real-world assets, payments infrastructure, and tokenization of traditional treasuries like bonds and securities.

Participants are encouraged to build on the following concepts or propose their own

  1. Institutional Stablecoin Settlement Layer - Build a settlement system allowing institutions to conduct transfers using Solana-based stablecoins, reducing settlement times and costs.

  2. Cross-Border Payment Solution - Develop a solution for international transfers using stablecoins that reduces costs and settlement times while providing necessary compliance and security features.

  3. Institutional-Grade Custody Solutions - Build custody infrastructure allowing organizations to securely manage digital assets for themselves and their clients.

  4. Compliant Privacy Framework - Develop a privacy-preserving solution that enables institutions to leverage blockchain while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive transaction data and complying with regulatory requirements like GDPR and banking secrecy laws.

  5. Real-World Asset Tokenization - Create solutions for tokenizing real-world assets such as real estate, commodities, or intellectual property that can be integrated with institutional systems.

Pitch Requirements & Judging Criteria

Projects will be evaluated based on:

  • Institutional Viability: How effectively does the solution address the specific needs and constraints of institutional environments?

  • Only Possible On Solana: Is Solana's technology being leveraged effectively to solve real problems in institutional finance?

  • Market: What is the potential impact on institutional adoption of blockchain technology, particularly for stablecoins and DeFi applications?

  • Winners: The main criterion for selecting the winner will be the overall quality of the project pitch in person. An institutional approach will be treated as a significant bonus.

  • Breakout Hackathon: the project has to be submitted to the Breakout Hackathon from Poland (colossuem)
