About the Bounty

This is a bounty for the best essays that describe the state of cNFT adoption on Solana.

cNFTs have fundamentally altered the digital collectibles landscape,

  • from scarcity to abundance

  • from PFPs to art, memes, music, podcasts, games, stickers & comics

  • from vanilla mint pages to contextual in-app experiences

  • from high mint prices to claim games

The first-order effect of compression is that it drastically reduces the cost of distributing NFTs at scale.

But, the second-order effect of making something inexpensive is that sets off a virtuous cycle,

--> people can run lots of experiments with it,

--> some of these succeed & capture user attention

--> and that attracts people who want to build more products, tools and use cases to service that attention.

--> which captures more user attention...

Evaluation Criteria

The ideal essay will:

  1. Describe the product use cases enabled by cNFTs through examples like DRiP, Solarplex, Dialect, etc.

  2. Describe the state of cNFT tooling on Solana through examples like Underdog protocol, TipLink, etc.

  3. Quantify the state of adoption using available metrics like weekly cNFTs minted, unique users who hold cNFTs, the associated costs, marketplace volume, royalties generated, etc & contrast them against legacy NFT metrics

  4. Make suggestions for new use cases or features that you’d like to see

  5. Describe the communities that have emerged around cNFT art & contrast them against those formed around legacy NFTs.

  6. Briefly explain the tech behind compression & point to more resources

  7. Present your thesis on the impact cNFTs will have in driving Solana product growth & user adoption.

You do have a point, but It's an essay, the minimum required is 1000 words. 2000 in some cases. Overall though I don't think it's a length competition.

Hi Dan, thanks for your qn -- while there are many bounties that focus on bite sized / short form content this one requires a more in-depth analysis to cover all the aspects described.

Hey is there a hard word count requirement? I did up a twitter thread with around 500 words, and I honestly like the brevity and do not think expanding it will help educate. Sometimes less is more, an...
