That's what Proto helps you do. Our app lets you earn for the data you contribute & lets you build a stream of content with long term potential. All maps are content, and you can make them everyday when you walk out of your house and hail a cab, get a coffee or walk your dog. And every time you make them on Proto, you earn, you build content and you create your own moat. Proto helps you catalog, share and monetize these everyday actions, places and trips that make up your life.

City Captains are key Proto community members who lead mapping in their cities. They are responsible for conducting map-a-thon’s, supporting local community members and directing the mapping efforts in their city. City Captains work with our core team to strategize where to map in their city, how to organize map-a-thons and build community in their city.

🛵 What are city captains responsible for?

City captains have three responsibilities:

1. Organizing map-a-thons in their city

   Map-a-thons are day long events where our community gets together to map out a portion of their city.

2. Supporting their local community

   When a community starts mapping for the first time, they have questions, need support during, before and after map-a-thons. City captains are responsible for helping community members with these needs and coordinate with Proto’s core team whenever required.

3. Growing their local community

   Expanding the community, conducting more map-a-thons and organizing events will help city captains build a better team of mappers. A city captain is only as good as their team of mappers and one of their key responsibilities is building the best team for their city.

💰 What do city captains get?

City captains are compensated for their efforts based on performance:

1. $150 of reimbursable expenses per map-a-thon
2. Token rewards based on the performance of mappers in their city
3. Exclusive merch, goodies and lots of love!
